Kicking off Campbeltown Football Festival-CDJFA in the short lived sunshine was our Mini kickers. We had 40 little ones participate in the fun.
This age group was sponsored by Kintyre Veterinary Services.
We were delighted to have them all join in and hopefully this is the first of many festivals to come.
Girls, Girls, Girls! (all 70+ of them)
Pictured above are 5 girls from our mixed 2019 section along with 37 Girls that we managed to get game time for. It wasn’t easier for our girls only teams as not enough interest to run a full girls section but in the end we decided to mix them in younger age groups.
The girls U12 were lucky enough to be able to play a round robin with Lochgilphead. With more girls mixed in with our other sections we provided football for around 70 girls.
The U8s girls played 4 asides in the 2018 section and the U10 girls 5asides in the 2017 section. Thank you to everyone for welcoming them. As a club it means alot to us that we provide a playing opportunity for all our players as the Campbeltown Football Festival-CDJFA
Everyone of them should be proud of their efforts and thank you to the parents for their patience as I juggled the options right up to the very last few days.
The Stephen Gorman sponsored girls section was supported by Stephen lending us some electrical disco equipment for the day. Stephen also gave us his afternoon to ref the games with one of our youth U16 girls Islay. Thank you both again.
20 teams plus mini kickers providing home game opportunities for over 200 local kids. Amazing effort.
Look out for lots of appreciation messages over the next few days. We have so many people to thank including our meadows pavilion painters, cleaners, CDJFA committee, coaches, secretaries, first aiders, players, our sponsors, stage, travelling teams, coaches and families, pitch liners, the players, families, medals, the refs, our older players who stepped up and fundraised, had fun and even refereed, our stalls, entertainers set up volunteers, tidy up volunteers. The list is endless, might take a few days but we will get there.
